air intrusion?
I have a 92 7.3 and it cranks for a while and then starts up revs to about 1000 rpms and dies and then i have to try again and most of the time is starts and runs fine. It does this pluged in or not. Help guys.

Sounds like air intrusion from an air leak into the system draining fuel away from the filter and IP. It will run until the fuel is exhausted then you have to crank it to refill the system (filter and IP).
Any known diesel leaks on the filter header or base. Are the return lines and caps between the injectors showing any diesel leaks...... air will go in where diesel will not come out.
