I have a 2000 F-350 SuperDuty XLT and would like to dress up the cockpit of the SuperCab some. I like the look of the simulated wood dash that I've seen in the Lariat and other models. I found this kit and wondered if this could be a do it yourself type of "Mod"?
Are there any body guys here that know how this is installed? Is it attached over the existing dash or is the existing dash etc. removed and this applied? Is it with clips of some sort or an adhesive? It says "Overlay"?
When finished would it appear as if it was factory? Thanks in advance. Also would like to hear what finish others might like? I am leaning toward the English burlwood or the Birdseye? Click and scroll down.
EDIT: Sorry guys, the link worked in the preview post. If somebody knows or has seen this kit and knows what I'm talking about with out the link I'd appreciate your sharing how these are installed. Thanks in advance.
The dash stuff is typically an overlay that goes over your existing dash. We ordered a steering wheel from click here for my wife's truck from them. It matches the Lariat trim perfectly. The wood grain on the steering wheel is not an overlay, you have to change the whole wheel, but it looks good. They also sent us a coupon that said mention this coupon and receive 10% off your order so you might try that.
the guy that has the fender flares has those and his are actually made in america the company is called autoelegance and the guy will help you along the way and do whatever it takes to get your business
Hey Chris, that's the look I was talking about! This may be where some of my money that I get back because I must have overpaid my taxes might get to go.
If it's an overlay how would the overlay attach and still look stock? I wouldn't want it if it turned out cheesy looking.
Was it hard to change out the steering wheel? Special tools? Wiring? I think it (the simulated wood look) gives it a a classy touch.
Hey Patrickke, we cross posted. Check out picture # 24 from the oem ford dash.com with the panel presented in the autoelagance site. Is that the difference between flat and molded? Flat must be the one that's applied and molded must replace the original? I like the molded much better.
well the guy at autoelagance i think has both the overlay and the type where you send your parts to them...the only problem with auto elegance is that he is re-doing his site so you have to call them...ask for joe tell him i sent you...He helped me with my truck and he can get almost anything we want for our trucks...he was telling me about how i could get my steering wheel re-done with nice leather etc..
i talked to joe at auto elegance...he does the flat kit (which you yourself can apply)...molded which you send off...and dipped which you send off and they get a film applied...
You're getting money back from OR? That's unheard of! They prefer to take my money
I think the kit looks pretty nice, I would think with a good cleaning prior to install it would turn out just fine.
