coolant filter questions

i have alomost 160,000km(100,000m) on my truck and been reading about the coolant filter system. Does anyone figure its still worth addind in? I've done the recommended coolant flush @ ford. And if so what brand would be best?

A lot of people say that it's worth adding anytime, regardless of age/mileage. It's on my list of wants that I haven't gotten to yet. There are many different opinions on which to get, but there are a ton of people with Dieselsite units.

Ditto on Dieselsite filter. I added mine at around 110k , and after 3 filter change, I have to say it's one of the MUST mods for these trucks.
Some claims it filtered nothing out, for me it was scary to see how much c**p I've had in my coolant system....

I would do the coolant filter at any time, if yours is one of the ones with lots of sand, it will pay off.

I installed the Dieselsite kit at ~55k. Do the kit if you plan to keep the truck. Coolant changes won't get all the stuff out.

I recently bought a 2003 PSD. I flushed the system and was wondering where the mud was coming from. Here a picture of a portion that settled overnight before I was able to take it to dipose of.

<a href="http://s616.photobucket.com/albums/tt243/eprn1n2/?action=view&current=Mud.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt243/eprn1n2/Mud.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I put in the Dieselsite filter. It was an easy install and will take care of the problem.

Diddo all the above, worth doing at any time. I installed the DieselSite also. Easy Install. While I did not get as much junk out as some people have reported on the first filter change, I did get some. The way I look at it, the coolant is a very critical fluid and needs to be filtered (should be on all engines). One thing I did notice, after running for awhile, the coolant itself just looks clearer. So it is doing something. If it save me 1 water pump, or gets me a few thousand extra miles on the engine, well worth it.

Just wanted to throw my 3 cents into the mix. I recently had coolant system flushed and coolant replaced at 76K miles as part of a warranty EGR and HPOP replacement by the dealer. I installed the Dieselsite kit with a custom bracket and left the original coolant filter on for 5K miles. I was amazed at how much crapola came out of the filter! It made me wish I had changed it sooner. I can't believe that all that sand and who knows what was circulating around in my cooling system. So, while until this first filter replacement I had that "is it really doing something" voice in my head, I am now very glad that I spent the time and dough, and would heartily recommend it to anyone else.

Go to dieselsite.com and check out their system and the photos in the 6.0L section.

The photos are mine that I submitted after I installed mine at 50,000 miles (after doing a distilled water flush and new coolant). The pictures that I sent them (and they posted in the 6.0L section) speak for themselves.... get one installed today... this is the best mod available and it really works... and the again, the pictures speak for themselves.

Good luck,
