High Idle
On occasion my truck goes to 1200 RPM. When I touch the brakes it turns off. This is the high idle feature that can be turned on with a switch but there is no switch installed. What's happening here?

that would be the temperature controlled idle, its sensing cold oil and outside air temp, runs it up until warm. Bit more sophisicated that the old 7.3 which needed the additional controller. You should also look up the high idle mod for summer time, you can set it to cool the cab, or cool down after a long hard pull... the tech folder has lots of stuff, at the top of this forum...

Thanks for the info. So many strange things on this truck. I've planned to hook up the idle control. It looks like an easy mod. I've got a list to get through. I've just put on the coolant filter.
