I Need help quick!

I just put a new distributor cap on my 1980 f150 351c 4bbl carter afb. Well I was not paying attention to where each plug wire goes. I went to start the truck and the new cap started smoking. Does anyone know which order the wires need to be re hooked up into the new cap? I need this truck to be running again by tonight any helpful posts will get rep points and lots of thank-yous. -Dave

the firing order for V-8 motors are 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8... Believe me I've had my cap off more times than I've wanted so I have the firing order memorized

Are you sure because this is for a 351 Cleveland. [url]http://www.boxwrench.net/specs/ford_351C.htm claims the firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

my manual says 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 but if the spec says otherwise you can try that firing order or this one

Are you sure it's a 351C? If so what did it come out of 1980 f-150 didn't offer 351C that I know of. 351M was common in the 1980 if that's what it is the timing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 but if it has a 5.0 the firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

A 5.0L is a 302cid.

One is a metric measure and the other is SAE.

They are the same engine.

Ford made 302's from circa 1965 to 1996, so yes lot's of them were carbed.

It is a 71' 5.8L 351c that I swapped in. I figured out the firing order though, it is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. Thanks guys.

Isn't it usually cast into the intake manifold?
