............Just purchased a new '08 ranger with auto and I'm coming up on 2k miles , so was considering changing both engine oil and trany fluid . Or , should I just do the engine oil at 3k and maybe the trany at say 10k miles ?
............This truck came with 4:10 gears so it runs really well on the highway but so far , fuel milage is stuck at 22 to 23 mpg! I'm hoping it will climb too 25 or so . , thanks , rb
What does your Owners Manual recommend for engine oil and tranny fluid changes? With the newer engines you should be able to go 5,000 or ever 7,500 miles between oil changes.
You should start seeing better fuel mileage after 10K miles. You also should start seeing better mileage as we move into warmer weather and you get away from winter blend fuels.

Reason: Added info
Also switch to synthetic oils like mobil 1 in the engine, tranny and rear diff for better mpg and parts wear. Less friction = less heat = better mpg and parts life.
