Torn on upgrade path...
I bought a Ford / International IDI 6.9L Diesel with a Borg-Warner T-19 manual and 4WD transfer case. Not having done my research properly, I assumed the transfer case was divorced, and that I could use the engine and trans and just sell the transfer case. After I got the donor truck, I realized the transfer case was built onto the transmission.
I've been trying to sell the T-19 and transfer case to get a normal RWD-only manual that will work with my 6.9, but havn't had any luck. I'm starting to think about just installing it and trying to find a Marmon-Herrington 4WD front axle for the F-5 down the road.
Any feedback? Is trying to go 4WD a waste of time?
Just leave your front axle alone and don't run a front drive shaft. Put the Tcase in 2wd before installation and don't even bother mounting a shifter.
