Question about Variable vain turbo?

Hello all,
I have my 04 6.0X straight piped right now nad when I let it warm up in the mornings and the high idle kicks in the turbo wistle is Loud. How could I hook up a switch to open my vains on the turbo to let the tubo wistle be turned down a bit and to let the rumble of the engine be heard for a little like in this vid

you should be greatfull of the loud whistle. people pay a lot of money to get a turbo that sounds like that and after 04 for whatever reason they dont whistle as loud, my buddy has an 04 and when it idles up it'll drown out my 07. He recently went from the afe stg 1 to Stg2 and it easily got 3-4 times louder.

i guess you could put a switch on your vgt signal line and compleatly shut it off but i wouldnt recommend it cause it will set a code and it will be gutless.

what good is it going to do.it could cause damage to the engine if it isnt switched back off.all the straight 4 inch ive done wistles to.i agree with wyatts66f100.dont do it.

Is not the VGT controlled by the engine control module? If you start switching it off and the computer sees that it is not responding correctly will it not start making changes in other ways to correct for it? The engine control module takes in information from all the sensors to make sure the vains the injection timing and amount of duration for the injectors is correct and then your going to try and confuse it. Sounds like a bad idea to me. Maybe a custom tuner would be a better way to go.

this seems pretty dumb to me. your turbo is suposed to whistle. if you dont like the sound of psd turbo them buy a dodge. Ges. all this cause your turbo is doing what it is supposed to. lol

03-04 turbos have 10 vanes, newer have 14 vanes which makes it quieter.

You could also just re-install the cat! That'll turn down the whistle.

Whooo every one cool your horses. Don't get me wrong I love the sounds of the wistle but I just liked how it sounded in the video and I would not be driving around with it like that lol.

blah blah blah blah, in the end you cant really control it unless you do something dramatic. or you chip it but i wouldnt recommend that either.

isn't that just the same VGT shut off switch (that you wire up yourself) and most people do it to make the truck blow black smoke like a freight train?

i'm pretty sure it is and i guess that cool on/off sound is another bonus. i'm 99% sure i know that guy and truck from the video, local diesel club buddy.

he's got a sick custom fuel system and when he drove off one time he flipped the switch and kinda vanished in the distance. lol

I have the 64mm Garrett turbo. It is not a VGT. so at idle it doesn't wistle much at all. Makes alot of noise when I am on the throttle though.
