hey yall, for the time being i need to put my sas on hold i need to keep a reliable dd while im in school ...
but anyways i was thinking about just takin my truck and droppin it an inch or 2 and just runnin a nice set of 31" street tires or at's, i was planing on just takin out the stock rear block off the axle, but how could i go about lowering the front a little, can i just unload the torsion bars a little? im not sure how much preload they come with but if i just loosen them a bit will it lower it safely? i just want a good reliable truck to drive around town in, i used to get 15mpg before the bigger and heavier 33" mudders but it looked stupid with the 31"s thats the only reason i wanna lower it, so i can run 31s and get my mileage back and not look too stupid, any advice?
Take out the blocks and crank down the torsion bars a little, that would seem to be an easy solution to me. I am curious though what mpg did you see before the mudders? I ask because I went from almost stock to 33" mudders and didnt see any change in mpg. At the extreme ends I have seen some higher hwy mpg with the mudders and lower winter city mpg with the mudders but avg out the same. 15/18 takin it easy. 285/75/16 kuhmo mt on cheapie AR aluminums.
i used to get about 15-17, no i get about 12-15, varies more and i chalk that up to just more wear and tear on the motor but i know i did use my buddies 31" street tires the other day to tow something on a low trip (they had a higher tow rating so he let me use them) and i gained somwhere between 1-2 mpg back, dont remember the exact decimal
