wheel bearing replacement! need help!!
The front brakes were dragging on my 78 f150 4x4, (dana 44) when I went to change the calipers and hoses I noticed there was alot of slop in the rotor/ hub assembly. I opened up the hub to find the spindle lock nut had worked it's way loose and there were alot of metal shavings in the hub. I need to clean it out and replace the hub and bearings but can't figure out how to get the inner bearing out??? any help would be appreciated. Also if anyone has a diagram of the parts and order they are replaced in please post it, I don't think that whoever went into this thing before replaced all the parts. --Thanks!!

You need to push the seal out of the back of the hub/rotor assembly to get the bearing out. In my experience this means destroying the seal in the process so you will need a new one when it goes back together. You can use a long driver (of your choice) and push the seal out going through the front of the hub towards the back. Or you can just pry it out however you think is easiest knowing you are going to put on a new seal.

I got the seal off and cleaned all the shavings out, installed the new inner bearing and seal, now I can't get the thing to seat, any suggestions or do I just have to keep beating on it untill I get it? -thanks for the help-

Make sure that you have the new race fully seated in the bore.
My advice would be to change the outer bearing as well. If there was metal contaminating the wheel end then both bearings were run in it. Cheap insurance, especially since already have it apart.
