I have seen they make a header for the 300 but i was thinking that it would rob my torque and thats what i like about the 4.9l. they cost like 500 bucks and i dont want to be let down like when i put the K&N cone on and now gets full of mud when i go play. Anybody with one on there's?lame

So far, so good on the thinking. If you are concerned about the loss of torque by means of loss of back pressure...that whole scenario is a myth but unfortunately still has some traction this day and age. What you want is scavenging (think high velocity exhaust gas flow) and small diameter, long tube headers can help with that. Do some shopping around...I don't think you have to pay $500 for a set of decent headers. Clifford headers (usually more expensive) come with the bungs welded in for the 02 sensor for your EFI. Other headers do not but the part is cheap and is a simple welding job to put one in.

Well shoot, I think dynomax or some cheap brand has (had) them for under $150. I had one on a 84 and it cost $135.

Rumors are EFI exhaust manifolds flow pretty well, even when compared to headers, so if you have EFI I'd keep the stockers....if not, find a dirt cheap or free set at a junk yard.

Looking at the header on clifford i am going to order one. i was using Jegs. they suck for some things

As long as you keep the piping an approproate size it should only help. Maybe run the headers into straight- thru maganaflows or something like that to keep the velocity up.
