I'm interested in possibly purchasing a 1997 F350 CC, LWB, 4X4 as a project upgrade truck. Could be dually or not. I'm sure someone here has the owner's manual as original from purchase.
Can someone confirm the HP/TQ on this vintage truck in diesel form and what the tow capacity is for the LWB and the dually version? I've got the LWB pegged in the neighborhood of 12,500-14,500 lbs or 20,000 GCVWR
How much difference between the bumper pull and the GN ratings?
I cannot locate the manual for the 97 in my signature.
The sticker on my motor is stamped 215/300. But that is flywheel readings. Definitely lower than that at the wheels. Cant help you with the tow, sorry.
I believe the 97 stroker was rated at 225hp. I can't remember the torque ratings though. The later OBS had 10 more horse than the early ones.
These trucks will pretty much pull anything you hook up to it with. It only takes a few mods and you will have an awsome towing truck. Through a little more money at it and you will be steam rolling down the super slate.
ok just to put it out there those numbers don't mean they won't pull more I've got a 95 super duty/ 450 that's a wrecker and I hooked to a chevy 7500 box truck that was thirty feet long yesterday that's gross weight was 25600lbs and towed it 25 miles at 65 mph in od with no problems only mod I have is coons 14.7k icp so don't worry about factory ratings

I'm not saying it does. It's just what's on the sticker. There are too many variables to compare when talking pulling performance. Fortunately, with the help of some simple mods, these rigs can run pretty heavy and not have any problems.
Mine must have a problem. When I got it if I hooked my 2000lb enclosed trailor to it she would barely move. Struggled to get to sixty. Now with the mods I have it is better but still kills my power when hooked up. But it is extremely fast empty. Do you think it is a gearing issue? I don't know what gears it has, maybe the previous owner changed them. In 5th gear @ 2500rpm it does 88mph. Is that about normal?
sounds like you have 3.55s, that is about how my trucks runs, but i will say that even with my 3.55s I can pull 2000lbs like it is not even there. how big of a tire are you running??

i think you mean 425 for the torque.... 300 is less than what a stock 5.0 has.
bumper pull vs gooseneck really depends on what kind of ball or hitch you are using. they make bumper pull hitches that are rated for 15k lbs, but if you put a ball rated for 5k lbs on it, then you shouldnt pull more than 5k with it. most bumper pull hitches are rated for 10k, 12.5k and 15k.

you shouldnt have trouble with a 2k lb trailer. i dont care what size tire youre running or how high a gear youve got. you shouldnt even notice that you have a trailer until you get up to about 10k lbs.......
