power mirrors not working

The power mirrors on my 98 F-250 have not worked since I bought the truck a few weeks ago. I cannot find a fuse for it but I have checked for power at the switch and the orange wire does have power. And I have a ground at the switch. I used some test leads and ran power to each other terminal and nothing happened. I am guessing I will have to jump three wires since there is left and right on the switch but I dont know which ones to jump. Anyone have a schematic or had this problem before and know what the fix is? It's not a real big deal but every time I take it to the car wash they mess them up and stuff that doesnt work bothers me. Also when the door is open the chime is on like I have the key in the ignition even though it is not. Any suggestions on that?

The power mirror problem is likely a bad/dirty switch. Some have had success in taking the switch out, taking it apart and cleaning the contacts.

The door chime is a little simpler to fix. Go the the door latch and spray WD-40 into the latch. Spray it liberally and then open and close the door repeatedly. Good luck!

I did the wd 40 thing and it made the dome light stop staying on after I had shut the door. I am thinking that the switch in the ignition that activates the chime is stuck. Maybe I could spray some in there. I guess I could blow some compressed air in the mirror switch. I'll go try that right now

OK I removed the switch and blew air in it reinstalled still didn't work. Took the switch apart blew it out again sprayed some wd40 and blew it off again to dry it reinstalled and now I have in movement on my left mirror and in and out movement on my right mirror. I have a doctors appointment in a little while so i guess I'll play with it on the way there and see if I can get it all working and if not I'll stop at Ford and get a new one. Thanks for the help John

From what I remember seeing in other threads, there is a small switch in the ignition key switch assembly. Ask the dealer parts guy about it if you have to go after a new mirror switch. Good luck!
