C6 Tranny Trouble
I have a 1948 f1 with a 351 cleveland and C6 tranny.I bought the tranny last year from a friend and I am sure it was good(took it out of a van that was running).I went to start the truck this weekend and the motor would not rev up with the trannt in park.I put the tranny in nuteral or forward gears it reved right up.And the tranny got hot fast.So I pulled the tranny out and took off the pan.On the back of the valve body and on the shifter linkage side there is a shaft with notches in it.When I move the shifter it don't move at all put I can push it in and out.What is this shaft And could it be the cause of my trouble.I'm going to rebuild the tranny because there is alot of black residue in the bottom of the pad (I think it is from burned bands) but I want to find what is broke frist. Sorry for the long post but I'm not a tranny man.
