Blinking CEL & Whistle

My dad’s 04 5.4 will buck and kick under hard acceleration and the check engine light will blink but as soon as you let out of the throttle it will smooth out and the light will go off. It seems to happen when the engine is cold but occasionally after it has warmed up. It has 100000+miles on it. The Spark plugs have not been changed and I’m guessing that and maybe a set of coils will fix the problem. In another issue it whistles when it is cold out (like 0 F). Really pronounced when it was -20 a few weeks ago. I searched FTE and found a Mustang TSB about an idler pulley. Any thoughts ideas or suggestions on these issues would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Brad

We're gonna need any codes generated from the incident. I'd suggest taking the truck to the local parts store, most of them will scan the computer for free. Once you post those, we should be able to narrow it down a bit.

The whistle when cold is most likely the alternator whistle.

Sorry the reply took so long; my computer went up in smoke (literally). <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
My dad took the truck to Autozone and they scanned it and got T0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire. Should we replace the Spark plugs and all the COP's, the spark plugs and the #2 COP, or does it just need spark plugs?<o></o>
Thanks-brad<o></o>

Well, to start, I'd change all 8 spark plugs! They're designed for 100k...so they're past due.

If that doesn't fix it, I'd say try changing the #2 COP. Do NOT replace anything else not related to the problem cylinder...
