fuel injector tools
I have a project that I will be starting this weekend, (I hope I finish) I will be the changing oil, shell synthetic 5w40 and a bottle of hot shot, motocraft fuel and oil filters. I will be replacing the egr cooler and oil cooler. And finally I will change the #6 fuel injector, what tools do I need? I saw in the 6.0 bible that I need a special tool. Can anybody help me out.

a long(3-4 inches) T40 torx wrench is really the only special tool you'll need...a service manual is in your best interest..make sure when you remove the injector that the copper washer at the bottom comes out of the hole...be careful pulling the injector electrical plug out..the injector hold down clamp TQ spec(24 ft/lbs if you're stock programming) is critical so you don't ruin the o-rings, and the new copper washer seals correctly..

also, don't freak out if the truck doesn't start right away...you will have let air into the HPO system and you'll need to bleed it out before the injectors will throw out any fuel...crank the starter for a while and let it sit for 20 secs or so...repeat until it starts...then let it idle for a few minutes while you are chacking for leaks..the idle will be rough until most of the air is out of the HPO system..then go out and get on it to get all the air out..
