swapping axles
Hello
U have probably seen my posts a few different times . Quick story if you have not. Got rid of my 2005 chevy and bought a 96 ford powerstroke 4x4. My guy totaled the cab and frame. I have alot of good parts and just put about 2 k into it. I am now looking at a dually 2wheel drive and another single axle 2 wheel drive. Can i dwap axles plus transfer case to make it 4 wheel drive? do i have to change the whole transmission. How hard is it to change a dually into a single if i want to put a utility body that i had on my other truck

You'll have to use the transmission from the 4x4 along with the axle, transfercase etc. Going from a dually to a single wheel is simply a matter of swapping the axles. Is the 4x4 a 3/4 or 1 ton?

There is and adapter made to install the T-case on
a 2x4 trans. It moves the T-case back about 5in or so.
Its used in van conversions. While not a route i would
take in an f-series but can be done.
Switch from drw to srw the pita sometimes is an emergency brake system.
