i amd building a truck for mudding as well as going to work what is a good cam to put in the engine that will help me out in the mud but that will keep my truck drivible on the road
sorry for the lack of information, i having a bad weer i broke a stud of in my offenhauser intake, i have a 78 ford with a 6.6 400 it is compltley stock exept i am currently putting on a offenhasure intake whith a holley 600 four barrel with vacum secondarys i going to put duels on soon as i get headers i was going to go 2 and quarter i have a c6 , np 205,9inch rear danna 44 front so far i hanent changed my gears it has 3.11 , i do like doing some trails but i like to sling mud,if you need any thing else let me know
If you are using an Offenhauser dual port intake, then you are definitely building a low end torque motor. That's good, because that's what these engines do best.
I think a good, economical choice would be a Comp 252H to complement the intake and the low compression ratio. If you use anything other than full length headers, then a dual pattern grind would be a better choice. A good one would be the Summit Racing K5200.
If you will use full length headers with the smallest tube size you can get, you will have an engine that will make low speed torque like a tractor.
r long tube headers beader than shortys for what i am doing,i want smaller tubes beacus they give more back pressure and thats what makes the torqe i think, and when i put the cam in should i switch out my rockers to full rollers or should i leave them stock. so far you all have ben really helpful
The small tube headers are not small to create back pressure. The small tube, full length headers provide gas speed at lower RPM that draws extra gas out of the cylinders. This is called scavenging. Shorty headers can not do this.
