Um, wow. Perhaps a misplaced zero?

Or maybe the "2" was meant to be a "1"?

2004 Ford Excursion

Methinks this guy might be just a *bit* on the high side...

Not as much as you'd think. The guy figures he paid ~$50k for it, it's 5 years old and probably well maintained, 50% depriciation is to be expected. He probably hasn't checked the price of other vehicles in this class, and without doing that, you really aren't that far off the ball here.

Will he get that price? Probably not. However I was just at the dealer a months ago, and there were 04's in the 20-24k price range.

$50k for an XLT 2wd w/ the base engine? Not likely.

That guy is stoned.

An 04 2wd 5.4 with 100k (which isn`t high mileage anymore btw) is realisticly only worth $15k at most! even with all his "upgrades" and his grammar smells of Nigerian scammer!

Some others from the Detroit area Craigslist, for comparison:

2005 XLT 4x4
2003 Limited 4x4 Powerstroke
2004 Limited 4x4 Powerstroke

I just find it amazing that people can't (or won't) do a simple search on comparable vehicles / stuff before they post it for sale.

Can you blame somebody for trying to get twice what a truck is worth?

That truck has been at that dealership for at least a month, maybe two. They throw a new ad on Craigslist every few weeks.

Ahh, that explains things well. The dealership hopes to start off high ball, give the customer a $5,000 to $7,000 discount,

and still make $5,000 more than the truck is worth! And some stupid customer will still think they got a good deal!

I've toyed with the idea of going in and offering them $12K and see what they say. Seems reasonable for a '05 V10 4x4 XLT, trailer tow and rear entertainment.
