Tire Question

hey, looking to get new tires this week. i want to go from my stock 235/85R16 to 265/75R16, but the problem has been the extra $100, or more, for the wider tires. especially if i shop locally. the prices for the 265 on tirerack.com are ok, but i did find another page where they ship for free and may match tire rack's price on the BFG A/T's.

my question is has anybody else heard of discounttiredirect.com? are they trustworthy? better yet, anybody know somewhere cheaper than the $184/ea from discount tire?
here's the link to them if anyone is interested.
Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct

thanks in advance

I would just do a full shop for them. National tire and wheel, desert rat, summit racing, jcwhitney, 4wheelparts warehouse, or a barage of others out there to look into. I bought my last set of tires online and got them with a buy 3 get one free deal. I would just shop around as much as you can for the best price and lowest shipping. You can find deals out there but just look. As for the reputation of discounttiredirect, I can not pledge for them as I have not ever got anything from them.

I bought tires from one of Discount tires stores a couple years ago. They were good people.I would take the ad from their website to their retail location and ask them to sell you the tires for the online price.I have done this with camera equipment from a big box store and never had a problem.
The only issue I have with buying tires online is,once they get delivered you have to load them up and take them to a local shop to have them mounted and some places won't mount them if you didn't buy from them. This may not be your situation, but it is something to consider.
My for the day

I'm interested in what tires you got also.

When I need tires I usually pick what I want and call many different local tires shops for pricing. You might be surprised of the difference. For the same 285 tire that one place wanted $189Ea for I could get somewhere else for $167.

this is true. i checked directly with BFG for the local shops and if i had stuck with my stock size i could have gotten a really nice deal from sears that nobody online could beat. i decided to go with the A/T KO tires, even though they cost more, because of all the good reps they've gotten here at FTE, especially the guys saying they've gotten a solid 60K out of them, or more. my firestones aren't quite shot, they have 36k w/ maybe 6k left on them. need them for another project, which means they need tread still.

let's see if i can get the link to work right. i'm almost 100% sure i'm going with mavis tire, and they have a lot of local shops, including cole muffler, who's doing my install. the price cole gave me was $195/ea installed, plus the local tax. still a little more than i wanted to pay, but it's ok.

there was the other price i posted above of 184 w/ free shipping, but then i had to try to get 'em installed. these will probably get ordered today or tomorrow and go get 'em put on whenever they tell me they get there!
