Well......

The C7JE-6015-A block is a 67-68 427 marine block. Is it crossbolted?

The C9AE-6303-A is the forged steel NASCAR crank. It has wider rod journals and normally uses C7OE-A NASCAR rods.

The heads are just your bread and butter FE heads but holy smokes the rest is pretty damm good!! The thing with the crank and rods is there are no oversize bearings available. Even back then there were only red and blue coded std size bearings depending on the clearance. You can use the std FE bearings with some work to them.

You should see a $ mark on the crank. That's the trade dress symbol for Wyman-Gordon who forged cranks for Ford back in the day.

So check out what rods you have in there and let us know. The NASCAR crank and rods are about the stoutest combo out there. Heavy too! Man what a cool find!

Find, this was a running engine, Im rebuilding it at the min, It is crossed bolted and it wieghs a ton. This engine has been amistory in my 72 F-100, I had thought it was a 360 with a4bbl intake, But once I started pulling it apart, its been one surprse after another. Intake was coved in a thick paint. But is made from Aluminum. and had been fully smoothed inside. Ports have been matched also. Heads are fully smoothed and ported also. The balancer was a real surprise, It liquid filled, feels odd to hold. Started rebulding it this morning.

Well it's a good one no doubt. Sounds like someone put some time, effort and $$$ into it too. The salvage yard had no idea what they had either. Or you wouldn't been rebuilding it today. That should move along your F-100 quite well.

Oh, when I pulled the rod caps and mains, I found all the bearing surfaces are a high polished, I mean I can see myself in them. No wear at all. This thing full of surprises

OK dropped the block and head off, and recieved a very intresting call about 10 mins ago. Cyl walls are Chromed, Mains chromed, Rods chromedEvery wear surface is chromed. I have seened chromed wear surfaces in 2 stroke marine engines, But never in a 4 stroke. Has anyone seen this before?

Well that is pretty interesting. Sounds like someone put some $$$ into that engine at one time. I've heard of hard chroming used in some auto, aviation, marine and some old train engines. Pretty expensive process. Some do it to get cyl clearances back in spec where new parts just aren't a option. Some for endurance. Did you find cast iron rings on the pistons? Keep us updated on what else the shop finds out. That sure ain't no 360!! Hopefully someone will chime in on the chrome process for you. I don't really know that much about it. But it can be fairly thick as I understand it.
