There are what look like two relays next to the Fuel filter in the engine compartment. There is one towards the cab and one pretty much next to the fuel filter on the passenger side, but right next to each other.
The one by the cab, when the key is switch the power comes to the switched side of the relay and stays at 12 volts even after WTS light goes out.
The one next to the fuel filter and toward the bumper, when the key is switched on there is no power to the swtiched side of this relay.
Which one is the GPR, are they both GPR's?
Should I be getting 12 volts to the switched side of the relay that is not getting anything?
Should the one getting 12 volts turn off after the WTS light goes out?
I want to do the GPR mod but need to locate the relay first and figure out if it's working to begin with.
The relay closest to the firewall is the GPR. The other one is the AIH Relay (Air Intake Heater). The GPR can remain operated for up to 2 minutes. The WTS lamp is not an indication that the GPR is operated and usualy turns off in about 10 seconds.
That is exactly why I love this site!!!!
Not only can you get an answer to a question in under 5 minutes, I am learning so much more about my truck everyday.
Thanks for the info.
I take it the #4 wire is wire I attach for the GPR mod?
Can someone tell me what the GPR Mod is? Just replaced my GPR today since the old one was acting up.
Installing an LED light in the cab so you know when the GPR is energized or not. Hot lead to the switched side of the GPR, then ground the other wire. There is a good write-up on here somewhere... Radio Shack sells an LED for $2.
