exaust under or over tranny bracket.

I wish to replace the duel exaust on my truck and i was wondering which is the correct way for the pipes to travel. Right now the passenger side pipe goes over the tranny mouting bracket and the drivers side goes under it. I see a lot of truck with it under the bracket but i want to have as few turns as possible. I plan to place headers though haven't decided which kind. and i'll prolly run 3" pipe back to glasspacks then out in fron of the rear tires with a tip of somesort prolly 4"...sound like a good idea or what?

thx in advance

A good bender will put it above the cross member. Tell them that this is the way you want it done. If they say they cant, go someplace else. Warning, 3" may be too tight to fit, but I know 2 1/2" will fit.
