99-07 Super Duty tailgates are a direct swap. You can also swap in a tailgate from a 97-03 F150, 04 F150 heritage, or the elusive 97-00 F250 Light Duty.
The 08-09 Super Duty tailgates will also work if you swap in or modify the drivers side hinge to work with the torsion spring that the new tailgates have. There is a thread here with instructions on how to modify your hinge to work, otherwise I believe the part number for the new hinge is in that thread also.
