alright so i got the thing to where it would start and i went outside the other day and turned the key and nothing happened i had full lights inside the cab and the guages started to go down when i turned the key just like it always does when im cranking the motor over i crossed the solenoid with a screwdriver and it cranked right over but since i have a newer type starter where it has a soleniod on the starter i bypassed the one on the fire wall and got the same effect as before the thing wouldnt start im at a loss the truck has a 92 5.0 in it that has been carbed so there is no sensors i thought it might be some sort of nuetral safety switch but i got under the truck and physically made sure it was in park and still wouldnt start
Sounds like a loose wire down on the starter. Isn't this the starter you have been taking in and out because of flexplate engagement problems? If so, something may have come loose.
Unless I'm misunderstanding your post (which would be easy to do, given the lack of
punctuation) it sounds to me like the solenoid isn't receiving the signal to operate since you
can cross the wires at the solenoid and it'll work. I would suspect the column-mounted
ignition switch but I'd first verify the symptoms using a voltmeter at the solenoid, is that
little wire (I think it's red/blue stripe) receiving 12V when the key is turned to START.
