Well its a long story but its three trucks put together and is titled under a 1960 ford. my cousin bought the truck from the county and then he sold it to a guy in the area then my gpa bought it and brought it to wat it is. My cousin is the one who put the grill in it. All in all its started out as a 64.
So I am looking to do a front swap on a 64 f100 swb and trying to decide which direction to go. I prefer the easiest swap like most people.
I've heard every thing from nova to dakota's. Main reason is I want to go to disk brakes in the front with a lowered stance and would love to put in power steering. Anyone have pro's & con's on this? Just looking for idea's
Im guessing you meant to say dodge there huh? haha Iam a dodge guy i like fords to but have to dodge pickups 76 powerwagon with a factory 440 and an 01 1500 both lifted with 35s. Tossing up going ford power or mopar power. too many people do chevy power so need change. This will proly stir it up a bit.

You ARE kidding , of course? Your grandad put a 425 Caddy/tranny/rear in it and you are thinking of taking it out??
What a vintage swap!! I wouldn't touch it, you're done! Find a different truck to ruin with your mopar engine!

I'm right there with Greg on this. It's the same reason I left the 390/FMX in the '61 GMC carryall I used to have. Some guy went to a lot of trouble with that swap and it ran and drove great. If my grandfather had done it, that'd be even more reason to leave it be.
At one point I was thinking of a 455 Olds motor with the Toronado front wheel drive trans/suspension swapped into my '61, but those aren't just laying around everywhere like the 302/C6 I ended up using.

How many FE engines came with an FMX? None.
People confuse the FMX which was introduced in 1969 (as a companion to the 351W, also new that year) with the MX Cruise-O-Matic (aka BIG Cruise-O) used in 1958/67 passenger cars, 1965/67 F100's with a 352, some F350's w/a 300.
Y'all go to a part store and ask for a pan gasket/trans filter for an FMX, I guar-an-tee you'll get the wrong parts. The MX has a notched trans pan, and is deeper than the FMX.
The only Ford trucks that came with an FMX were 1973/77 F350's w/a 300 I-6.
Uh, Bill, this engine/trans was in a GM product. No tellin' what it came out of. Thats just what the ol' boy told me. I only owned it about a year and never did any work to it besides a tune up and new brakes.
The carryall originally had the big GM V6, and I don't know what the gears were, but I do know that it'd run with traffic out in the 3rd lane on I10 at about 2500rpm. Got almost 17mpg on the freeway, too.
Wish my Slick got that kinda mileage.

Install a Warner T-85N overdrive, then you too can get 20 + MPG on the highway. You might even luck out and get 28.7.
I did once, on a Route 66 Rod Run on the flats in AZ, average speed 45 MPH.
I thought the gauge was wrong till I filled up in bee-u-tiful downtown Needles CA.
When we moved out here from SoCal, I had a '69 Suburban with a 396/T400. It got a consistant 14mph in SoCal. Up here I'd be lucky to pull 10.
I suppose if I lived in the flat part of Arkansas I'd be getting better mileage, but it wouldn't be near as pretty as around here, either. I guess you sacrifice some things for others.
Oh, and you left an "s" off Needless. ;-)
haha funny knew that would work. yeah he told me to do my thing to it. Im not going to change everything since he put so much into it but need to make it my own. If i go dodge it will be a stroked 360 since I have some of the parts. if its ford it will be a 460
If the donor car I got my 460 out of didn't have a bent frame/clip I would have swapped in the 1976 Lincoln Continental front end. Too bad it hit a ditch in GA with that wonderful georgia clay. mmm power steeing and hydroboost brakes. But such is life and it never comes out the way you plan it to. I saw a beautiful example at a car show a few years back that made me want to kick myself for not trying to straighten it.
