Sorry, got that mixed up. It was only the carbed 7.5 that had intank pumps.
I checked a couple online sites and I didn't see anything for the '87. Have you checked at the local auto parts suppliers?

i checked there websites and they only show sending units with pumps as if it were fuel injected. they also show the same for a 86 model. they truck title shows its an 87 but door tag says it was built in 12/86 if that matters

Ya, I'm a little surprised with the price as well. It's just a pickup and sender, no different than the older 5.0L senders. It is right around '87 that they changed the sender signal range, but I can't see it causing that much of a price range. I wonder if it might be a lot cheaper to buy the EFI sender assembly without the pump and swap over the send part of it.
I did that with mine a while back. I don't know what late model ford vehicle it was from, but all I had to do was unsolder the small ceramic sender curcuit board and fit it in my sender housing. With a full tank, it only shows 7/8 full, but at least it isn't bouncing all over the place. I was at the dealer one day, asking about the new sender and the parts guy offered me a unit that was a warranty repair. They hold the part for the area rep to authorize, then throw it out. They won't ship a fuel contaminated part back for warrant credit.
