non explorer question

hey guys i know this is an explorer forum and i have an explorer but my dad has an old beater he uses it burns 1 quart of oil every 1500 miles and on christmas eve he accdently put tranny fluid in his oil now the valves are tapping is the atf fluid thicker then the oil and could it have clogged the filter i looked all over but no info thanks in advance for any help i know this is a odd question but just need some help

i think it is the oil has not been drained since but idk if the car burned it or it clogged up the filter or something

The atf might have "cleaned" the lifters a bit, or loosened up some stuff to clog them up.

Either way, drain, fresh oil and filter. Repeat if needed.

One quart in 1500 miles isn't that excessive--it ain't great, but try to get a manufacturer to warranty a NEW engine based on that consumption and you'll get the "That's within normal guidelines" answer.

yea im hes not worried about the oil as a said its a beater car he puts beyween 100-200 miles a day he just doesent wanna have to buy a new car and run it into the ground putting all that milage on it
