I have a 90 fullsize bronco with a 351w, what is the deal with the two cats under there. The exhaust comes off both sides of the engine, comes together into one pipe then goes through two cats. Why two? I heard that the first cat is to keep the exhaust from getting too loud. Is this true? I have my exhaust split after a glasspack, and it does not sound good. I want it loud and nasty, what can I do?
If you want it a little louder, call around and find a parts store that carries direct fit cat kits. Mine only cost me around $175 from summit racing. Plus, once you buy it, you have to put it on. A muffler shop will not put on a convertor if you buy it from someone else. Also, I know mine sounds much better since I added the flowmaster system I had custom built. The glass pack you have may be a little loud for the "sound police".
