Question Heres a tuffy

Ok guys My truck had nasty rod knock So I had to rebuild a motor.

Now thats the basics heres the tuffy

I own a 1997 F150 triton original 4.6 4x4

Now it is a 05 5.4 block with 03 P.I. heads, all new bearings gaskets, ect... Im running the P.I. intake manifold, And had to change the fuelrails of course to accomendate the 1.6 addtitional width.

But the truck started up great, I cut the exhuast to pull the motor (bolts were rounded) now I fixed the passenger side exhuast, Driver is still leaking.

Here's my issue. The truck runs like S**T it feels like a miss fire but no codes, only coolant temp sensor codes (they are not connected) im still plug wire as the 97 is. Sometimes it tried dieing ill floor the gas and nothing for like 10 secounds then it revvs up. The weird thing is on the high way the truck topped out like 70ish, then I pulled over to check it out, Took back off went past 70 no problem... Its just acting weird. I have the coil packs mounts sideways since i changed timing covers.

Any ideas??????

My advice would be to start with the basics. I remember going through a whole electrical system once only to find my negative battery cable needed replaced. You hit the gas and you have a delay? Check the fuel filter first. Any leaking around the fuel rails? All sensor except coolant hooked up? Airflow.... Anything blocking airflow? Throttle bottle not supper dirty is it?

I would check everything simple you can think of before digging in deep. Good Luck!

If you are using the 97 PCM its not tuned for the motor you built. Contact a tuner for advise. The heads have more hp and I'm not sure if the pistons in the 05 block [set up for 3v] are matched to the 03 heads. You got a unusual combo

The computer needs input from the proper "temp sensor" w/o it motor should run only in Limp Home Mode.
