Our trucks hold alot of water when the door seals fail. I was vacuming my truck today and the carpet felt damp. When I lifted it there was about 1in of water under the plastic threshold cover. Looks like it the passenger rear leaking pretty bad. Should I get all new weather stripping or does someone have a tip?
there is a thread around here some place on how to slip a long 1/8 or 1/4 inch stiff hose of some sort in the rubber to stiffen it up...not sure where it went to though..some one must have it...hold tight..i think you needed to use baby powder to help make it slide in..
Well I finally did it got off my lazzy a$$ and did the 3/8 od latex tubing in the door seals. It was a pain feeding the tube thru there but its finally done. I soaked that door for 10 minutes and no water . I'm going to do the other doors this summer! It was $1.57 per ft for the tubing at lowes, so for the price of 1 new door seal you get all 4 done. If you buy it at lowes it will be ~ $102 (with tax) or here's a link for some on ebay that comes in 10ft lengths NEW 10 Ft Amber Latex Rubber Tubing 1/4" ID 1/16" Wall - eBay (item 140385087404 end time Mar-22-10 10:47:27 PDT) You can order 4 sections and just do the center section of the door seal.
P.S make sure you have baby powder to help get it thru like pocket said! Sure you'll look like you were wresting with a cocaine bag when your done but without the baby powder you'll be sorry!
