Heat control panel problems

2006 F350 xl. The blower motor only works on high speed, and the vent selector will not work either. It always blows out the defrost vent, and will shut the blower off when you turn the vent **** to the top. What could cause these two switches or ***** to fail, for the most part, together?

You most likely have a vacuum leak.

I would suspect the blower motor resistor, at least in most of the other vehicle I have worked on, when a blower resistor fails, it reverts to a "limp mode" of being stuck on high. As far as the Defrost thing, I am unsure, my blower works fine, and seems to stay on defrost no matter what. I think you have 2 seperate problems?

Well I got it all figured out. Blower was the resistor next to the blower motor under the hood. The panel/vent/floor **** was a vac leak. Mice chewed the hose on the back of the engine under the air filter. Its been that way for a while I figure (both probs). I just bought the truck a week ago and am just fixin some stuff. I cant believe this stuff was actually neglected. (I think its lack of education, no guts to try to repair and fear they will mess something up) Some people and their lack of maintenance astounds me . . ?!?! Thanks all

no resistor in these trucks. it's solid state now. the darlington transistor in the module located under the hood next to the blower motor, behind the ac condensor fails. it fails in the full short mode, causing the fan to run high. if you can do a little soldering, it's very easy to replace. the hardest part is getting to the screws holding the module in. the transistor is less than 20$. i have the part number if you want to try.

Where are the vacuum hoses located under the hood? I'm having the same problem with it only blowing out of the defrost vents.
