I disagree. The last real MLB record was Fenway having the most consecutive sold out games in the history of baseball. My mama's in the baseball hall of fame for that since she was the one that paid for the tickets.

That's not really a MLB record, it's a baseball game attendance record.
I'm pretty sure Steve meant Ripken breaking Gehrigs consecutive games played record.
In my opinion, any player who admits or is found to have used steroids should NEVER be considered for the Hall of Fame. It cheapens the very game itself. These "players" should be banned forever.
Babe Ruth hit 714 home runs, and he did on hot dogs and beer.

100% Agree, And they owe the Roger Maris family an apology and reinstatement of his home run record........Jack Daniels was the only "performance enhancer" back in those days. Pete Roses gambling pales in comparison with the steroid bulked impostors of today......For the good of Baseball, purge them from the games records.

I also meant that any records made in the last 20 years should be suspect, because of the presence of performance enhancing drugs (Conseco, Sosa, Maguire, etc......now Rodriguez)...
I doubt Ripkin had to roid-up to show up to work......
But damn.....Look at the size of the arms of the MLB sluggers.......Some of them are as big around as my waist....and anyone who knows ME can attest to the fact that I have a pretty solid 'girth' to my waist.....
The last MLB record to really mean anything was Ripkin breaking Gehrig's attendance records.....
I don't know, Steve, there are a lot of smaller stories that could be roid-free: Julio Franco becoming the oldest man to hit a homer (47 years old) is one that comes to mind. For those of us that love the game, it will always be about the smaller stories, the history, the numbers, etc. I despise the Yankees, but up until a few days ago, really thought that A-rod would break the home run record and do it the right way, and I rooted for him to do so. I don't want to get into a debate on whether or not steroid use improves a players ability to hit, so suffice it to say that I really enjoy watching a true master of the game hit the ball, regardless of what team he plays for.
2001-2003 A-ROID averaged almost 52 homeruns per year. high 30's every other season......things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
karma is the reason why he and bonds will never have rings..........thats what it is all about, being a champion..........the beautiful thing is...he just about if not already guaranteed himself not to get elected to cooperstown.
could you imagine when it was all said and done after his 16th failed and final attempt at cooperstown, all a-roid will be known for is signing the richest contract in baseballs history during his era, or should i say error??
Disclaimer: I HATE A-ROD
That said, you can't boot him from baseball out right. There were no penalties for Roids in '03. He didn't lie under oath and the results were supposed to be sealed for all that were part of that frequency test. To me that's like breaking the HIPA rule.
What he did was cheating in an era where I'd guess 50+% were doping.
As for the Hall...we'll see what the writers have to say about in 15-20 yrs. I'd vote no for all of 'em
