I am debating on which lift to put in my truck i want to not loose comfortability as far as ride quality goes. I was looking at a 2.5 or a 4.5 donahoe/icon with a 35" tire. i work out of my truck so i want it to be practical somewhat. my main question is how much does a 2 vs a 4" lift actually lift the truck i hear a procomp 6" is not really 6" it is only 4. If you guys can compose a list of how much it actually lifted your truck and what lift you guys got and how the ride was affected it will be extremely helpful.
Well I used to have a rubicon Express 6.5' lift (4" springs and 2.5" lift hangers&shackles. It netted me about 8" of total lift from stock height. II was running toyo MT 37" tires, I had to run about 40 psi front and 38 psi rear . That gave me a nice ride. On smooth pavement the rides was as good as stock. you`ll have alittle more bounce. I went to a Icon/Dr 12.5" lift and that is a 8" lift spring and 4.5" hangers & shackles, netted 14" of lift over stock. the ride is tons better than the Rubicon lift and as good if not better than stock. http://inlinethumb14.webshots.com/30...600x600Q85.jpg Here is the rubicon 6.5" lift. http://inlinethumb44.webshots.com/40...600x600Q85.jpg This is the Icon 12.5" lift. Go as big as you want the FIRST time!! At least with the Icon/DR you can add to it pretty easy! Good Luck!!
If u work out of your truck it is already a foot to high. A lift on a real work truck is as worthless as **** on a boor. Unless u are 7 or 8 foot tall that is. Lift it and the gas sucker will suck more gas and them big pavement pounding tires will wear like peanut butter and cost twice what a stock tire would. Plus when u roll the top heavy poc the roof will collapse and its all over. Save your money and go watch a monster truck show.
anyone have a 4.5" donahoe racing?? did it raise it total of 4.5"? also how about superlift and procomp. do they really lift it a true 6"? i have seen a 2005 around town and it looks no more than a true 4.5" donahoe racing lift. anyone done one to prove it??

The front is always the tricky end due to the old factory spring settling. I ordered a 2.5inch leveling kit for a 250/350 and it actually raised my 250 about 4 inches. Not due to the springs sagging but as I found out, the 350 is already 2 inches taller in the rear than mine so to level it the kit would have to go up 4 inches.
ya still not sure what lift i want to do i prob. will most likey go with a 4.5 donahoe but they are really pricey. also looking at superlift and tuff country, and procomp, they are cheaper and prob. bilstein shocks. the only thing i am worried aobut is my ride is going to be bouncy and ride like crap so still wearry about the other lifts. any imput on this would be appreciated.
You get what you pay for buy the cheaper ones , your ride and performance will be less/ worse, spend more $ and get a better product = better ride and performance! I spent alot more on my ICON/DR over the rubicon express and the differance is like night and day! Do it right the first time , you`ll be glad you did and you`ll save $. I wooked alot out of my truck with the 6.5" lift , and I still work out of my truck now that it has a 12.5" lift and i drive it everyday!
