Door ajar light

Door ajar light

hey guys i have a 2000 f250 5.4. and the door ajar light is on but both doors are closed i have a ext cab. but both doors are closed and the light is on. does anyone know where the sensor or something is that tells the truck when the door is closed or anyone with other pointers would help out alot thanks

I don't know about the rears, but your front door switch is on the latching mechanism inside the door. You can try hosing them down with WD40 to fix them.

There is a push button sensor for each door on the inside where the door makes contact. The door closes the contact when the door is closed completing the circuit. First step is to try and clean, but you may need to go to each one and complete the circuit to see which one is at fault. If it is bad you may need to replace it.

Easier than that would be to find the wires at the VSM or GEM for each door. When the door is open, the wire should have 0 vdc and when it's closed for the first few seconds it will have 12vdc, and then drop to ~5vdc in a couple of minutes. This way you only have to find one place rather then pulling each door panel.

I had the same problem & I sprayed the door latches with WD-40. Haven't had a problem since.

Spray the latches and open shut the doors a few times. Here's a pic of where to spray.

I had the same issue and sprayed with WD40...it did come back a year later. I used PB Blaster the last time and it hasent been back for 2 years now.
