I lay the transmission on its back on the bench. Pull the pan and valvebody. Release the band. Remove the bolts in the pump. Use a large screwdriver or medium prybar between the sun shell and the low/reverse planet assembly. That pushes the drums forward and loosens the pump. Grab the pump by the stator support and pull it out. Hold the high/reverse drum in place. After the pump is out pull out the drums and restack the forward drums and planet assembly.
