transmission swap
I have three options right now
1. Buy the same tranny that already in it from a junk yard for about $400 with a 90 day warranty.
2. I can buy a '88 BII for about $600 that runs and is in pretty good shape, has the same engine, and use it as a parts car for my '90, mostly engine and front end/rear end parts.
3. Just keep shopping around but my '90 BII is my only form of transportation right now so I gotta get it fixed.
My favorite option is number two, if a couple things are correct. the guy that has the '88 has taken out its old tranny and replaced it with a tranny and transfer case from an F150 4x4, the only problem I see is that the f150 tran was not a "shift on the fly" 4x4 model and my BII is. Does that make any difference? If I just use the f150 tran and not the t case does it mean the 4x4 in mine will be uneffected? Also, how similar are the front and rear end components on the two models?
Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it!

I guess my suspicion stems from this would not be a common swap. As I understand it, there is a significant amount of work/expense in fitting a V8 transmission behind these V6 engines. There are questions of interchangeable bellhousings (if the transmissions have removeable bellhousings) or adaptors (if the transmission have integral bellhousings). These adaptors, if they exist, are usually fairly expensive.
Anyway, I guess I'd be sure I knew what I was buying before I bought it at this point.
