I have read lots of posts, and it's pretty conclusive that for the 73-79 4x4 trucks, the 78/79 setup is the way to go. I have a 73 4x4 project and was wondering if I could use steering from an 80's truck/Bronco? My father has an 85 Bronco and the steering is pretty good on it.

The 1973 to 1979 4x4 were solid front axle where as the 1980 and up use what Ford called Twin Traction Beam, there version of an independent front suspensions. With that being said the steering parts are completely different.
I really do not think this swap would be very cost effective to try, but that is just my thoughts.
About the only 80's parts that will work is the power steering pump itself, minus the brackets and pulley. I have a '78 F-150, and my power steering pump came off a '86 Bronco. Then again your '73 may have different lines and such than my '78 does. Better just wait till you find some '78 or '79 stuff.
I did the power steering conversion on my 75 F-100 4x4. I used a 79 4x4 gearbox. You have to have a different worm gear installed so it turns the other way. There is a really good tech article here on this site that I used. Even sent it to AZ for the rebuild and reverse worm gear. Some one closer might be able to do it. I didn't use the plate for the frame drilling though. Didn't need it.
