Question ?? On Painting??

Ok I'm gonna be painting the frame on the truck in my sig and im woundering how to go about it im taking of the box. And was planning on taking a braded wire brush on the side grinder to it and then taking valspar rust primer 2 or 3 coats and then tractor enamel paint 3 to 4 coats to do it does this sound right to you? Also should I take it apart and paint everything seperate or what can I leave on the frame? Also do I need to do the gas tanks and axle different??? Thanks!!

It all depends on how much time and work you want to invest into the truck. Also what are you going to do with the truck. If it were to be a show truck, then I would remove everything down to bare frame, sandblast it and use POR 15 on it. Gas tank and axle can also be done with POR 15. If you are just fixing it up to use as a daily driver and or work truck, then leave stuff like the axles, springs, suspension on it and clean it up real good. Go over it with a good degreaser, clean off any heavy or flaky rust, then hit it with POR 15. I would remove the gas tank(s) and inspect them where the bands go. If they are okay, clean them and paint with POR 15.

I have found it is best to take as much off the frame as you can. Be careful, though, as you will find stuff broken and bad, and then this simple job will end up costing you more than you are probably planning.
Here's how far I took mine down:
