i just noticed today my truck sitting slightly lower on the driver side...so i measure it and its 1inch lower on the driver side...i'm guessing its because of the fuel tank on that side and also the drive always on that side...my question is whats the best way to go about fixing this problem???
Could also be slightly from the 2.5" leveling kit if it doesn't have a drop trac bar bracket or an adjustable trac bar. The stock trac bar and bracket don't allow any way to compensate for the additional height...normally results in the axle being pulled slightly to the driver's side and the driver's side of the truck being slightly lower.
ok ok soo in other words i should look for a drop trac bar bracket then?? cause i'm guessing the stock ones arent adjustable?? i just measure again on a perfectly flat cement floor the front is 1" lower and the rear is only 1/2" which 1/2" could also be the floor...it was actually a 2 3/4" inch level kit it was a little over 2 1/"2 but i did nothing to the trac bar except remove it then put it back i know it was a pain to put back on tho...would that make the drive side sit 1inch lower??
It could....you could remove it and with the wheels straight back up 20-30' and then pull forward 20-30' as that will allow the axle to center back up. Then measure and see if it changed at all. Maybe hop up and down on it to to move the suspension a little.
ok i found a trac bar drop bracket made by tuff country recomended for 2.5inch level kits for $104..i might try it i seen where everyone said it was mess up alignment on axle but you really think it could make it sit unlevel like that?http://www.topguncustomz.com/Store/G...view=170113996 the bracket
The issue with doing a bracket is that you throw off the geometry of the steering by not also doing a matching pitman arm. Hence, why I recommend a adjustable trac bar.
Yes, the trac bar can pull the driver's side down and the axle over to the driver's side. Since you had to force the trac bar back in, something has to give with the force on the bar.
As I said, you can remove the bar to see if it changes prior to ordering anything.
I'd get some good shocks like Bilsteins or Icons with that.....but the Skyjacker springs are sort of on the stiff side (few leaf count per pack) so the ride still won't be great, IMO.
If it were me, I'd shop for parts here Truck Toyz Performance Suspension - Truck Toyz Store You might save a dollar shopping somewhere else, but the customer support here is second to none. I can get you in touch with one of their reps if need be. Just send me a PM and I'll get you the contact info.
I've moved my truck without a trac bar to get it out of the two post lift bay and to a different part of the shop......the axle shifts a good amount under the truck while turning.
I had the same problem with mine. I took it back to the dealer and they said the spring had sagged. They replaced the spring and two years later it looks like it's doing it again.
