Buying Help needed...Some Q's

hey guys...
i did post a thread about buying an excursion. i have driven a few 2-3 so far and each one seems to have little problems, which is ok. they all seem to have very little power on take off. The V10s are the only ones i drove. is this an issue with the V10s or with the vehicle? my current f150 with a 3v 5.4 has more "get up and go." any help would be appreciated...im going to look at an 02 limited tonight. thanks alot

One thing to keep in mind, is that there is much more weight to the Excursion to get moving from a stop than your F-150. Also there may be a difference in the rear end ratio, which comes into play in the get up and go and seat of the pants feel.

Its all about the axel gear ratio. For example my truck with the V-10 is a F250 CC SB 2wd 4sp auto and has the 4:30 rear end. This truck will most currently throw you back in the seat if you hit the gas to hard coming off a stop. I've driven ones with the 3:73 and they do feel much more sluggish. Also if you looking to tow make sure you go for at least a 4:10 rear if not the 4:30. Also, what trans is it. The 4 sp auto has more off the line get up and go feeling than the 5 sp auto from my experience.
