Advancing the timing is easy with a timing gun, just pull the spout plug and rotate the distributor. Results vary with use and the condition of the motor and EFI system, but on average the truck motors will tolerate 2-4 degrees additional advance, and more with higher octane fuel. Stock base timing is 10deg advance.
