Another door ajar story...Started intermittently on my '99 about 3-4 mos ago. WD40 trick never worked. Since then have replaced both switches and still get door ajar "chime" and interior lights coming on and turning off so I took BOTH switches OUT and you guessed it, same #$%*&@! problem and there's NO switches in the doors at all! Oh yeah, pulled the interior light relay to stop the lights from coming on at night while trying to drive. Now the door ajar light is on CONSTANTLY and had I not pulled the relay for the lights I think they would be on too. Have heard this could be related to the VSM/GEM? This is driving me NUTZ!!! Any help would be appreciated...so thanks in advance

 

It wouldn't hurt to pull the GEM out to look for water damage and corrosion in it. If you do find this kind of damage, the GEM may have to be replaced. Before you do replace it however find where the water came from. Typically it will be a leaking windshield seal. Good luck!

 

Thanks KingRanchMan02. Pulled the GEM out and the only thing found was about 10 years of dust. Hosed the whole thing down with some electrical contact cleaner put it all back and right back to the same ol' thing. Any other suggestions?
