1974 F250 'hiboy' . Needs some TLC on the body but mechanically its quite sound. Needs brakes.
Engine is strong, transfer case (205) is very smooth. Somebody put warren hubs on it. Has power steering , minor leak on the piston (ram arm? ) nothing serious.
Everything except the hubs look bone stock off the line - the odometer is a laughable 91K , I'll assume 291
Here are a couple of crappy pics , I'll post better tomorrow!
Welcome bishop, always nice to see someone get a "new!" truck!! I consider all of mine "new"!! You get to where you enjoy all the fixin of things, even if yer cussin while doing it!
Short term ( like, this weekend ) - replace the breaks, put in a Pertronix ignitor, tune it up and put her to work!
I'll probably powerwash as much as I can get away with on the engine and drive train to really identify what if anything is leaking and how badly and fix all that up.
Then I'll start working on the body cancer , finding a new tailgate , headliner and maybe dash. But that'll be a slow process , I've got a '57 MGA project car that needs my attention this spring / summer. Frame up resto!
I bought it for a work truck, but I'll end up fixing it up nice
The truck has a cap cover for the rear tank, and the switch but no rear tank - I might take that on as well.
Any body want to help me decode the the warranty tag? The vin decoder says its a 1973(?) , 360 , 4x4 . I'll post the tag details later on.
( is it odd I'm into old Ford trucks and even older Brittish sports cars? )
looks like a truck that will be a great truck. now all it needs is a name.
post the VIN number and the info off the Warranty Plate and I can decode it. make sure you label what is what......some of the codes are the same.
as for the 1973 or 1974.......the truck is over 30 years old. when some people get in a wreck they'll replace the door, but they don't transfer the VIN tag, too. or it's very well a 1973 instead of a 1974.
