Anyone running a leveling kit in a 6.0 PSD? I am thinking of putting one on my 05, but I curious about towing performance with one. I am not overly concerned with ride quality, afterall it rides like sh** now in stock form. HAHA. Unless it really does make the ride worse (if possible). Thanks
I ran one on a 2006 and also on my 2008. No difference in ride quality at all. I used the spacer style so its still the factory spring. Some people suggest longer shocks but I never had any issues.
As for towing, it depends on how much weight, especially tongue weight, you will have. My truck is level when empty so it obviously drops in the rear with a trailer. With smaller trailers (under 5k) I dont have any problem. With a 10k trailer I air up my rear air bags to level things back out. I towed for a long time without the air bags and had no issues but the stance of the truck made the trailer look heavier than it really was.
Do the airbags help out with ride qaulity in the rear?? My truck likes to bounce around in the rear when I hit rough spots in the road on the hiway at 70mph.
I'm been running Bilstein 2.25" leveling coils and Bilstein 5100HD shocks on my '05 PSD for 18 months. The ride is greatly improved! Far less bottoming out on large bumps and no more teeth rattling on smaller bumps and washboard roads.
I tow a 12.5K Weekend Warrior trailer 15 to 20 times per year with no issues at all. I do recommend Firestone Ride-Rite air bags which will allow you to level the truck. You could also add F350 rear blocks which would bring it back to a slight forward rake, but I prefer the adjustability of the air bags.
It was worth every penny and I'd definitely do it again.
