A friend of mine has an 04 diesel with the little *** you turb for it to go into 4wd. So the other day we had a snow storm and he parked his truck and put it into 2wd before turning off and the next day he got back in it and put it in 4wd and it would not do anything. He thinks its probably the 4wd motor or something like that.
Check to be sure you are not trying to get it into 4X4 low. There is a sequence of events you have to go thru to get it into the low vs high. If not this then check for vacuum leak.

Any ideas??
Thank you
Just make sure to lock the hubs in everyonce in awhile in 4 low. If you dont the 4wd mechanizm sticks and its hard to get in and out of 4 low. I'm not really sure what you are asking though?
when i use my "shift on the fly" it'll stay in 4x4 for about 10 seconds. i just lock my hubs manually. ford had alot of confidence in the vacuum system, that's why you can also do it manually.

Mine won't go into 4 low at all unless i have my hubs locked. Maybe because i dont use it much?
