Well a couple weeks ago I broke the glass in my passenger side 08 tow mirror. This morning on the way to work I hit a little patch of ice on a little dinky@SS one lane bridge at the end of my road. Ibumped the tall metal sides with my drivers side mirror and the plastic being cold, it pretty much shattered! So now I wait for Ed to get in so I can order up some new plastic, hopefully. It broke both pieces. At least it didn't get my recon lenses. So now when I place my order I'll go ahead and get a new e brake setup, that crapped out last week on me.
Anyone have any info on how these things come apart? I know how to get the big glass out but that's about it. I know it doesn't really matter now since its broke but I just wanna make sure I don't break anything else trying to get it apart. I also hope I can buy both of the plastic pieces separate without having to buy a whole new mirror!
Yeah Chris, it is. I read that write up that he had posted. I called my local stealer and the guy there said that I had to buy the whole mirror. I'm sure I remember seeing at least the back cover seperate on Ed's site. I'm just not sure about the cover on the glass side.
Just talked with Ed. The covers I saw were for the Lariat model mirrors, with power telescope. The mirrors I have do not seperate. So I had to buy the whole mirror. D@mn It! Oh well. Ed got me taken care of. At least now I have the extra glass incase I break another one.
Yeah. Thats the only bright side to the whole matter.
The E-break setup that I had priced last week was $50 something and today it was $70 something. Once again, Ford gets me! I've said it before and i'll say it again....I guess since their trucks arent selling they gotta get thier money somewhere!
You are correct. Too bad they don't still sell them with the 7.3 in 'em because they can be had for next to nothing. The thought of that 5 hours labor for cab removal just to do something as simple as to change the thermostat just makes me crazy though.
Oh yeah and the local stealer wanted over a hundred dollars for the E brake pedal setup. So thanks Ed!
I had spoke with Ed again this afternoon and he said they checked out the mirror before shipping and it had a little damage to it so he was going to get me another one.
If you hadnt ordered them already I would have jumped over to local junkyard my friend works at and see what they had. I think they had 4 SDs over there. Im sure the mirrors didnt last long but it wouldve been worth a shot. I might go over there anyways to see if I can get a deal on auto hubs and check on the mirrors as well!
Yep, thats what I hear. I have kept an eye to the local yards for awhile for some '08 stuff and havent had any luck. I looked to the yards when I first thought of installing these '08 mirrors. I have also been looking for the '08m tailgate with backup camera. Havent found thaqt either.
