steering column question 2wd vs 4wd

Is there a difference between a 2wd and a 4wd steering column. Also is there a difference between power steering and manual steering column? Thanks in advance.

Yes there is a difference in 2wd vs 4wd, The 4wd has a steering shaft that has a "d" or splined end (can't remember) While I beleive the 2wd has the rag joint thing welded right on the end. Correct me if I'm wrong guys but I'm pretty sure thats how it was. The 4x4 has the steering box in front of the wheels, the 2wd box is farther back. As far as power vs non, I'm not sure.

Power steering shaft is shorter then non power. I think there was 2 colunms in the 4x4 one that is d shaped and one that has a flange.

I swapped a 78 4wd column into my 77 2wd and just used the 2wd shaft in the 4wd column and it worked just fine.
