Goodbye, Big Red
But I'm not too upset.
Here's the story:
As most of you know, I'd been considering buying my late uncle's 1992 Nite Super Cab. That fell through, and then my computer crapped out on me.
Then, a couple of weeks ago, I found out that a young man who goes to church with us lost his truck to a fire, along with the travel trailer he lived in and all of his worldly possessions.
Our pastor called me and asked if I'd sold Red yet. I told him, "No," and he informed me that the church would like to buy Red for the guy, if I was willing to sell. They offered me a very fair price, and the young man got a good truck which he can use to get himself back on his feet financially. He is in the tree-trimming business with his Dad, and I'm sure they will put Red to good use, especially given the massive ice storm we just went through here in Kentucky.
My only wish is that I'd been financially able to have given Red to him, because I would've done it in a heartbeat. Before I became disabled -- back when I was able to work and fix up old iron -- I gave a couple of different vehicles to people who needed them.
But the good news is that Red's proceeds enabled me to get a new computer -- an MSI Wind netbook -- and this weekend, I'll be getting a new bed that I can get into and out of more easily ... not to mention I hope it'll help me sleep more comfortably. So it worked out to everyone's benefit.
I'll still hang around on here and post from time to time. You guys have been a great help to me over the past year and a half, and I hope to pass along some of my knowledge gained from you all.
Take it easy!!!
Rest assured that once the "new guy" gets a computer, I'll be sure to tell him about FTE. He's going to be a while just getting back the necessities. He's rented a trailer out in the country and is gradually getting things back to normal, which of course last week's big bad ice storm did not help. He said they're being told it could be 3 MORE WEEKS until their power is restored in those parts, so he's staying with his dad and stepmom, they got power back yesterday after it was off for a week!
