Truck's Strategy??

Truck's Strategy??
I'm in the process of purchasing an SCT Xcal2 that has a pre loaded Innovative tune. does the previous owner's "strategy" have to match mine exactly to get that tune to work for me and if it doesn't, will i have to purchase new tunes?

Yes,
The tune needs to be written to your strategy. Plus if the truck it came out of was a manual and you have an auto...or vise versa, you will have issues. Call the guys up at innovative and talk to them. Or give Spartan a call and see what they say. I am not sure what they are charging for just the tunes. I am running innovatives and have spartans but havent run them. I like innovatives cause the trans tuning is great.

ok....on another note. i have a link to Spartan's free tunes to download. they are in LL3file format. is that something that will transfer directly to the SCT once i plug it into the puter? will the tunes from them be compatible with my truck or will i need a custom written tune from spartan too?

each truck has a unique "strategy" that more or less dictates how the truck is programmed and how it behaves. in order to have tunes custom made for your specific truck, you have to get the strategy so the tuner can program accordingly.

InnovativeDiesel.com, is a vendor that sells the SCTx3 and writes custom tunes for the 6.0, also another site sponsor is Spartan and he wil write tunes for you too. Both are great Spartan is a little hard to get a hold of...but if you can get him to return calls his tunes are second to none. I am VERY happy with my tunes from innovative and the truck runs great.
As for the livewire, do some research and see some are happy with it some are not. Me personally I like the analog guages for there accuracy.
